Celebrations
We love nothing more than throwing a great party! Big or small, social or corporate, we do it all – and always with a sense of responsibility, style and fun. Click below to see some of the truly spectacular, One-Night-Only fêtes we’ve created for our clients over the last seventeen years…
The iridescent cocktail cubes were the jumping-off point for the design of this engagement party at the Art Gallery of Ontario. From there, we added a psychedelic snakeskin vinyl floor, some ombréed bar & food station fronts and, if you look closely, photos of the happy couple printed on the glass partitions all around the room
A 60th birthday party for a Formula 1 fan featured actual slot cars "racing" around the table. The entire track was custom, including the bridges that allowed tall wait staff & guests to access the inside of the circuit. Keep going to see more pics and watch the cars in action on our video page
We were asked to bring the bride's grandmother's garden inside -- this resulted in an engineering challenge to have the garlands safely span the width of the room. The massive plates at the bottom of each gold 'vine' column were vinyled to match the limestone floor to help disguise their mass
Gorgeous fall colours for a November wedding; this black tie evening featured a full-on Mexican meal even though neither family was Mexican -- they just love the cuisine! Look closely and you'll see beautiful flowers sitting happily beside bowls of guacamole and tortilla chips, all housed in mercury glass for the guests to nibble
Ken dolls made for fabulous (and risqué) centrepieces at a gay wedding with a Cabaret theme. We have many more photos of the Kens in various compromising positions that are not PG enough to feature on this website! We're sure Amazon wondered why anyone needed 75 assorted Ken dolls that week...
A full-on black & white wedding, where even the guests were asked to dress on theme. That's actually one long table, snaking through the room, around the chuppah where the ceremony happened after dinner with the guests still in their seats. The design was made even bolder because there wasn't a flower in sight
That stunning floral wall in the background was made by printing out a giant floral photograph and then attaching real flowers to it. It understandably became the backdrop for every selfie taken that night...
Yellow forsythia helped to brighten up the middle of a Canadian winter at the annual Fête Chinoise Gala. If you look closely, you'll see yellow butterflies emerging from the tips of the florals; a subtle reference to the "Dreams Take Flight" theme that year
This escort card wall had over 275 hand-folded origami flowers nestled into the trellis. Each flower was attached with the guests' names & table number printed on the leaves. Later in the evening, we were delighted to see many men sporting them like boutonnieres tucked into their lapels! Click on the photo to see the scope & scale of this design on our Instagram
We love to mix things like formal silver containers with bronze plexiglass runners to make everything a little less predictable and more interesting. And then we throw in a whole lotta candlelight for instant romance...
Every single guest's name was printed on the back of these letterpressed menus -- it was such a simple gesture and lovely detail that warmed even the toughest hearts in the room. You probably get a sense from these that the hosts were some of the most thoughtful people we have ever met...
Hundreds of strands of black shimmer curtains dazzled above a formal setting, inspired by the groom's old Studio 54 visits. Regular party goers thought they'd seen it all till they walked into this room! Be sure to go to our video page to see how dramatic and unforgettable the ceiling was
The bride asked us to make it look as if she walked into a meadow and picked the table flowers herself... While we reckon she might not have arranged them quite as beautifully, we think the mission was accomplished!
Dinner for 10 done right: This celebratory wedding meal took place under a 120' canopy of palm fronds, orchids and lanterns on one of the most beautiful beaches in The Bahamas. With every detail addressed, this intimate and perfect evening was the very definition of luxury
From stodgy & dull to Ta-Da, it's amazing what a little drape and lilac event carpet can do to transform a space... Click on the image to see the "before/after" shot of this room on our Instagram page -- the transformation is astounding
We have many guests who go to A LOT of parties, so it's always fun to surprise and delight them. And we love nothing more than when clients let us play with things like neon-coloured duct tape, all whist raising money for a great cause...
Laser-cut palm fronds in the legs of the custom chuppah made it blend right in to the setting. What we cannot take credit for was the sound of the sea lapping behind the couple and the warm breeze kissing the people lucky enough to be there...
Butterflies don't just have to be in the air... Floor decals marked the way into the party space, flanked by happy daffodils everywhere for this springtime engagement party. Click on the image to see the video we posted on Instagram of the whole space
An overhead shot of a 500-person escort card table for an Indian wedding. Secret admission: there was a fully-printed, to-scale vinyl template underneath, which made laying out the cards go much faster for our team that day
A snapshot of the head table from a same-sex wedding: look closely to see our cheeky insertion of obelisks and orbs into the decor and then we'll let you put two + two together in your mind...
Because we fully believe that even a formal, black tie dinner should have lighthearted touches. And let's face it: oysters are always a good idea...
One of our all time faves: as guests re-entered the theatre after cocktails in the foyer, the band expertly played while the backdrop was lowering into place and each chandelier slowly descended over the tables. Spectacle indeed!
The very best kind of night: every detail was overseen by the bride & groom so their guests could eat and dance under the stars. There's always a rain plan for nights like these, but it's such a relief when we don't need to use it
It was the Italian groom's idea to attempt a tiered sfoligia cake, and because it was a winter wedding, there was a squirrel burrowed inside the birch base, hoarding his acorn stash. We doubt very few guests noticed this tiny detail, but it delighted us to no end!
There's nothing like a hora to kick start a celebration. This one from a bar mitzvah a few years ago will live on in our memories as one of the most enthusiastic and energetic ever. Some nights are just intangibly magical from start to finish. Not one but two mechanical bulls helped with that too...
One colour of flora and fauna, when done right, can be so powerful. The florist lobbied hard to get the budget to pull this off, but damn, we have to admit that she was right! It needed to be this gutsy to hold up to the Frank Gehry staircase AND anchor the room
Man, do we ever love original thinkers! These two wanted to "Elevate the Ordinary" for their Sikh-Hindu wedding. To that end, often-maligned carnations were used en masse for bright, bursts of colour in earthenware pots. The plexiglass troughs were filled with undulating lentils, peas and spices: aka, all the ingredients in the meal that night
Yes, we found the only white horse for hundreds of miles for this joyous Barat on the Caribbean island of Anguilla. It was almost as challenging as getting 200 guests from every corner of the earth there!
We used cocktail napkins at different points in the evening to help guide guests as to how the unusually-scheduled night was going to unfold: people were told to fill up on the hors d'oeuvre during cocktail hour because dinner wouldn't come till after the ceremony. The last one was particularly important after the vodka cart had gone around the room a few times...
Proof that even during a worldwide pandemic, there were still things to celebrate: to comply with the ever-changing rules, this was a scaled-down retirement party for a local catering pioneer. Just 8 people at one table, outside with several heaters and warm throws on hand. Napkins doubled as pillowed poofs holding the 'gold' watches each guest received (even though only one of them was retiring)!
When your wedding has a ski-chalet / Nordique Chic theme, of course you need cafeteria trays and cutlery tucked inside cute Le Kit envelopes. This wedding was featured in The Knot; click on the photo to see more... PS: anyone need 225 teal cafeteria trays? We might know people who want to sell theirs, lol!
A one of a kind, sunburst floor plan where all the tables and string lights radiated from the centre of the half-circle. This was also where the podium was located and let's just say that's where all the love in the room radiated from...
Sometimes the setting is so beautiful that the smartest thing to do is complement, not compete with it. Simple white flowers and real crystal glasses often do the trick...
A close up from our intimate dinner under the palm fronds, just meters from the sea. Full disclosure: the two giant, carved tables were just too heavy to move so we made use of them -- they became lantern holders and fully-stocked bars on either side of the guests
One of our favourite details from our race track party: Escort cards sat on a giant speedometer table and guests picked up "speeding tickets" to direct them to their seats on the circuit
Because even in the middle of the woods, in the middle of nowhere, there should always be a place for a self-serve Champagne station to help you on your way to a ceremony...
An action shot from our Zero-60 birthday party. Yes, the cars had headlights! They zoomed past diners dining on custom asphalt-printed table cloths and table numbers straddled the circuit just like a real F1 track. Watch them race each other on our video page
If you're going to have dinner at one long table in the most beautiful room at The Art Gallery of Ontario, then why not make "art" out of the seating chart? Each guest/couple got to take their frame off the wall and home at the end of the evening
A giant metal bird's nest in the ceiling was designed as homage to the groom's family: their ancestral crest features the mighty cormorant bird. You can watch how the giant art walls came to life in the video section of this site: it's a good story so worth the effort!
This was a surprise Anniversary dinner for 3 (the daughter was invited!) in a full-on construction zone. We pulled this off with very little power and no running water amidst, as you can see, a whole lot of dirt. Even more amazingly, it was husband's idea!
Guests love Family-Style food service, but it's challenging from a decor standpoint. It needs to look both pretty & full before the food goes down, while leaving enough room for the platters when it's time to eat. At this baby shower, the birch trees and butterflies outside made appearances on the table inside too
Here endeth the tour of our past events. There's nothing like an end of the night photo: it's always the sign of a good party when even the candle can't stand up straight...
